The Crucible In 1953, when Arthur Miller's The Crucible'' opened on Broadway, its metaphoric implications were clear. It was the era of Senator Joseph R. McCarthy and the House Un-American Activities Committee. Miller's play about the Salem witch trials of 1692 was inspired, Miller said, by that crusade. A new film version of The Crucible,'' now available on video, hasn't lost any of its fury, relevance or sting. ]there's an awful, piercing truth in the performances of Daniel Day-Lewis, Winona Ryder, Joan Allen and Paul Scofield as members of a community destroyed by guilt, paranoia and betrayal. Director Nicholas Hytner doesn't soften or cosmeticize Miller's tale -- it's often uncomfortable to watch -- and he draws an emotional pitch from his actors that helps us understand the mob fury and irrational fear that make a situation like the one in Salem possible. My Sisters Keeper
Imagine being born just to give your body parts to one of your siblings. In the film My Sisters Keeper, a young girl named Anna Fitzgerald was only born to give her body parts to her older sister Kate who had cancer. Anna didn’t think it was right so she looks to earn medical emancipation. My Sister Keeper was directed and screen played by Nick Cassavetes in the year of 2009. The main actors are Cameron Diaz, Abigail Breslin, and Sofia Vassilieva. This film is very powerful on its acting because you could tell where they were coming from and they made it to where they set the mood.
Anna Fitzgerald was a strong character. She spoke up for herself and for what she thought was right. The fact that she knew that her mom loved Kate more made her feel like she was worth less. Kate also was a well-built character. She played a significant role of a young girl with leukemia. That may be harder then what you think. Even though it was just a movie, which is a very big part.
With Kate being the sick sister they had to make her look as if she really did have cancer. Her throwing up blood and what around her head looked like also. It looked as if she had bruises all around. Even the black patches on her back her mom found when she woke her up one morning. I liked it because it gives you a better look at how they were feeling and what they were going through.
This movie inspired a lot of people. When I watched it for the first time my mom and I both teared up. It was a deeply moving movie, for people who’ve been through tragic moments like that or know someone who has. I think this movie has two themes. One is to never give up. Kate knew she was going to die sooner or later so her family and she did as many things as possible with her and she stayed strong the whole time. Another theme is to stick up for yourself. Anna didn’t want to lose all her body parts. For all she knew she could have ended up dying. So she did the right thing and spoke up.
In an honest opinion, I believe that this was a worthy movie to spend your time watching. The director’s choice of actors made the movie brilliantly nice. The part of Anna and Kate Fitzgerald was first set to be played by Elle and Dakota Fanning, but Dakota refused to shave her head. There is a possible chance that the movie could have been better with them but I liked it just the way it was. I would highly recommend this movie to other to watch because it is very inspirational and mind touching. I really enjoyed it. J

Avatar Movie Review
Imagine that you have been traveling through space and come across a planet called Pandora where all you dreams come to life just waiting to be explored. This is a place where the impossible is possible. This movie is called Avatar. The movie was made December 18th 2009 (USA) and created by James Cameron who was the director and the writer of this film. Sam Warthington, Zoe Saldana, and Sinourney Weaver where the star actors in Avatar who really liked making the movie. I enjoyed watching this fantastic action adventure fantasy movie with all the excitement it brings with explosions, new creatures, and weapons. This incredible movie was all possible by the great special effects, fans and critics, and the way some people describe and think about this movie.
First, one reason I think this movie is awesome is because of the special effects it contains. The Natives that live on the planet look as if they came from the real world with the makeup and animation put into it. I mean just image a blue cat human like creature before your very eyes. Not to mention the other new animals and wildlife they add into the movie. Even the planets looked crazy. Some of them didn’t even look like planets it looked as if it were something you would find the bottom of the ocean. Many people also such as myself like the new weapons and aircrafts that they made in this movie. Then when something exploited it was almost as if it would pop out of the screen like flames had been dancing in the room. The sound effects that come with it are just as incredibly real and will blow you away.
Second, another reason this is such a great movie is because it’s amazing to see what other people would think about this movie. This movie has an eighty-three percent of critics who like it and a ninety-two percent of fans likening it. Fans loved seeing the action between the Navi and the humans during their battles with one another for survival. They enjoyed seeing the new weapons and aircrafts that were invented that allowed them to be on the planet considering that there is now oxygen on that planet. Not to mention the cool new species that was made such as the six legged dogs and six legged panther like creature. This movie sold $1.6 billion in tickets worldwide in just one month. Avatar was also chosen for best movie drama and Cameron won for the best movie director of the year. This movie came out to be a 8.1 out of 10 movie based on critics and fans votes.
Third, my last reason I enjoyed this movie was because of what some people thought about this movie. Like some major critics may not have enjoyed the story line as much as I did but they were still thrilled by how the movie was created with all the time and effort that was put into this making the movie. Plus most people think it’s very sad to see our human world dying in many years from now, but at least you know that there are more worlds out there that will still have a fight chance for survival. Last some fans and critics where all little confused how the main character was able to become a Navi at the end of the movie and come back to life in the avatar. But it’s alright to be confused because at least he was able to stay with the natives on this new planet and was able to run and walk once more with this new life.
Avatar turned out to be a stunning film that critics and fans loved. Some people came back to the movies to see it again and again. Who knows you may want to watch it over and over again once you see this awesome movie. The special effects will blow your mind away and critics and fans will shock you on what they have said. Don’t listen to the people who dislike this movie instead you should find out for yourself what you think of this movie. So if you want to see a good action adventure film on your next movie night Avatar might just be the right movie for you and your friends.

Great Hook and opening. youpick a really good movie and really went into the specific details of the movie and of the charecters. you even told your thoughts of how good the movie was. - William M. This review was good. It had a good plot summary and it was clear why you liked the movie. I also agree that the movie is great because of its special effects and crazy animals that look like aliens. I like the movie and you review. -Abel H. The lovely Bones Its better living life the fullest because you might never know when something terrible and terrifying might happen to you. Basically all you can think about is if your family and friends are missing you when you died that instant minute. Susie Salmon was her name she got murdered from this old creepy guy that every time you seen him he will just stare at you with his unpleasant eyes. This film was made in 2009; the one who directed was Peter Jackson. Some of the main actors are Saoirse Ronan, Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weiz and Stanley Tucci. The one who screen played the film they were Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens. The film The Lovely Bones is a passionate and an incredible film. The film brings emotion, the attitude, and the inspiration that brings that joy and sadness of the story.
First, the acting in this film was inspiring because Mr. Harvey was just a next door neighbor, like everyone else he didn’t seem that type of person that will harm teenage girls but they were wrong because this will be his 11th murder including Susie. Susie Salmon she knew she was in trouble by going to the playing room that Mr. Harvey build to trap Susie and murder her. She had no way out her screaming and yelling it was all too quick and too soon for her. She knew she was never going to see her family again. But, when she died, she went to heaven. She didn’t know what do, or what was going on, and then she knew what her family did when they knew she was dead. It made her realize she had to help her family to finding her murder. She wanted to get revenge. But, the revenge came to doing something else…..
Then, what made it more intense were the special effects. The effect that most outstanding was when her father Jack’s was frustrated for letting this happen to her little her, he will grab the boats they made and smash them. And Susie could see that this had to end, that he had to move on. Susie was in the beach when she saw the boats sailing toward her and then getting broken. That whole screenplay made it feel like I was in her shoes. I could feel the tension and tears rolling down my eyes. But, then she had to say to herself that life has to keep moving on. That there is no way Turing back, no could bring us alive.
Finally, Susie and her family could be the way they were. That everything was going to be alright. There was nothing to fear for. At the end her family kept living life and try to keep there head held high form anything that came pass them. They knew they can handle it to never give but in faith and themselves. That they were always going to be a family if Susie alive or not.
Its better living life the fullest because you might never know when something terrible and terrifying might to you or to your love one. That no matter what happens, they will always be there.

Home Alone What would you do if you were left home alone as the rest of your family was in France? Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) knew what to do. He defended his house against two stupid burglars, Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern). Kevin gave the burglars an unexpected twist they’ll never forget. The actor’s expressions and actions made this move hilarious. Kevin is really smart because of the way he plans to take them down. In the movie Harry and Marv plan to rob Kevin’s house. When Kevin finds out about it he plans to hurt them so they will leave. The way he does it is funny because they end up getting beat up and hurt in all different ways. For example when they try to walk up or down the steps they fall because Kevin poured water on the steps. Or when Harry goes to open the door and the handle is burning hot and his hand gets banded by the handle. The way the actors talked, screamed, and their actions made the movie even funnier. Some examples are when Harry’s head caught on fire and he was screaming. Or when Harry has a spider on his chest and Marv hits it with a crow bar, then Harry hits him back. That was really funny because they are friends and they’re beating each other. They act like they are smart, but the kid out smarts both of them and cause’s them pain. Chris Columbus and John Hughes did a good job writing and directing this movie. They made their target audience to kids. What the actors do and say are thought of and then acted out. John Hughes wrote the movie the way it is so that it would be funny. I think that all kids love this movie because it’s hilarious and exciting to see what trick the kid has up his sleeve every time the guys get back up. Every kid that loves funny movies should watch this movie every Christmas, because it’s a Christmas tradition to watch this movie for me and I love it! Kevin gives the bad guys some pain and gets them arrested. The movie is really funny and you will love to watch it. It is also written and acted out very well. So if you haven’t seen it, go out and watch it. I give the move an A+.

Tyler, overall well done! We really liked your hook and your choice of movies. Home Alone is definitely a Christmas classic. Your review was interesting because you described all your favorite parts, and it made me remember how much I love this movie. You could proofread and work on your sentence writing, but we enjoyed reading this. Some wording sounded like you were an film critic. THis "target audience" thought it was was a success, great job! Love, 2nd Period p.s. We miss you, you're absent today.
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE:GHOST PROTOCOL REVIEW In 1996 Brian De Palma directed the first one. In 2000 John Woo directed the second one. In 2006 J.J. Abrams directed the third one. Now, in 2011, Brad Bird directed the fourth one. Tom Cruise stars as Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol. Mission Impossible is about Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt and his team trying to get nuclear launch codes and stop a Russian mad man from starting a nuclear war with America. The movie has mind blowing special effects; parts so suspenseful they make you grab your seat, and unexpected surprises. This new addition to the mission impossible movie series has mind blowing special effects. One of Ethan’s team members, William Brandt, has to jump down right above a very fast spinning fan in the hopes that team member Benji Dunn will catch him with a rover with a giant magnet that attracts a special suit that agent Brandt is wearing. In this scene the special effects of the magnet and the magnetic suit that Brandt is wearing, to me are pretty amazing. Imagine you being caught by a magnet with a special magnetic suit. It just doesn’t seem realistic, but that’s what makes the special effects so amazing.
The suspense in this movie makes you grab your seat because it is so intense. When Hendricks, the Russian who is out to get the nuclear missile launch codes. When he launches the missiles, once again, Ethan Hunt is back to try to save America from being vaporized. This will also launch a very dangerous nuclear war. It will be a little harder this time.Because of a bomb that went off in the Kremlin, a very important political building in Russia, was blamed on America. Particularly, on the IMF. The agent group that Ethan and his team are a part of. The president has initiated Ghost protocol. Which disavows everyone in the IMF, making the team now non-existant. All that remains on the IMF is Ethan, his team, and a train car that holds very few, but very helpful high tech gadgets.
We all love surprises. Well this movie has a surprise of its own. In mission impossible 3, Ethans wife left him, or died? Ethan’s two main team mates are under the impression that his wife left him. While Agent William Brandt is under the impression she died. What really happened? Well the surprise lies in the action packed, suspenseful movie, Mission Impossible: Ghost protocol. This is a great action/adventure movie directed by Brad Bird. I recommend this movie to anyone who loves action, suspense, and Tom Cruise. The others have done a great job making the other mission impossible movies, but they are nothing compared to this one. Brad Bird did a great job doing this movie, and I sure am looking forward to another installment in this series, as are others who love these movies.
POSTED BY: DOMINICK CONTRAVO Dominick, you did good on your word choice. I now want to watch it to see all the suprises and special effects. I like how you mention that we will jump out our seats it's that amazing. Good Job. - Caitlin Hoffman
Forrest Gump
What would you do if you were fighting in Vietnam for your country? That was the question people faced in the 1960’s. In the 1994, Tom Hanks plays as Forrest Gump. This movie was directed by Robert Zemeckis but the screenplay was written by Eric Roth. The film Forrest Gump is a lesson filled movie, it has music from the time period and a lot of different moods that show how the people feel.
Tom Hanks plays the perfect role of Forrest Gump. Hanks role is of a slow boy growing up with his mother teaching him many roles of life. Hanks goes through the time telling his story of life and the significant in it. Tom Hanks shows how caring, loving, strong, and sadness with the things that happen in his life. Tom Hanks fits that role with outstanding measures because he can pull it off as he is the person in real life.
The scenes that are in the movie are outstanding. The movie was based in Savannah, Georgia where Forrest grew up. The best scene has to be when Forrest Gump is running past the mountains and it was beautiful. The scenes stood out in my mind and made me remember everything about the movie. The scenes were in actual places located in the United States. They were mind blowing.
Though some people don’t like Tom Hanks acting skills. Hanks tires to show what it would be like being slow. Hanks does have some flaws, everyone does. His acting might not be the best in some movies but Hanks did an outstanding job as playing Forrest Gump. Hanks tries a little too much to act as Forrest Gump but he does pull it off. I would say the acting and the scenes were one of the best things about the 1994 film. The boy growing up with his mother teaching him learned a nice life lesson and made viewers learn a little bit about history without even knowing it. The feelings in the film were strong and perfect. The movie won six Oscars in 1995. I would say this movie is an outstanding film with a lesson of history. By Amanda B. Great job on the review. You show a lot of passion in stating and supporting your feelings towards this film. The only thing that could use some work is the length. other than that it is perfect. I may consider watching this movie from start to finish. By: Marcus Moss
Battle: Los Angeles review
Will Battle: Los Angeles ever becomes a reality? The movie Battle: Los Angeles is based on an invention that the U.S. Marines have to try to protect the people in Los Angeles. People say alien life is out there but we are not that sure. Some people believe in it and others just think it’s crazy. But we won’t know for sure until it actually happens. This movie is filled with great acting and amazing special effects. The acting in Battle: Los Angeles was shot on. When it came time to be serious, it was the right time. When it came to a time to be ready and calm during the action scene it also shot on. The actors in this movie took acting to a whole new level. The actors made it look like they were actual U.S. Marines, but the acting was nothing compared to the special effects. The special effects were explosive. The effects in this movie were just about the same as Transformers 3: Rise of the Moon. The special effects were great in both, but in Battle: Los Angeles the effects looked more real. The costume design was another amazing element in Battle: Los Angeles. The designs for the aliens were not like your normal alien you see in other movie. They were half machine and half alien. But it was odd how there weakness was where the is, just like a human body. It surprises me how some people are against the military but no one sees what they do for us. They are the heroes in this world. I’m one of those people who are against it and with it when it comes to the military. I want those soldiers back home with their family but at the same time I want to become a marine. But life has its ups and downs. So people should just try to live life in the now don’t think about the future or the pasted before it’s too late. In conclusion, Battle: Los Angeles is the best military movie of its generation. It is by far the most inspiring. It has strong will actors and ever stronger pride in being a U.S. Marine. You wouldn’t be able to tell if the effects in the movie are real or fake because the people that are inspired by this breath-taking, heart pounding, edge of your sit action you won’t know the difference between fantasy and reality.

WIN WIN~Do you even know what high school wrestling is? Well if you watch this movie I promise you will know what it’s all about. The movie is a spectacular movie I would rate it at a ten. The movie came to theaters on March 18, 2011, but was brought on DVD on August 23, 2011. The director of this wonderful wrestling movie was Tom McCarthy. This movie made over$10,179,275 dollars. In the movie Win Win the characters play an important role. Each character played is part extremely well. Alex Shaffer the main character, who is a reject in the state of Ohio. He was ranked two in the regions at his old high school until he gave up his life making a bad decisions of smoking and stealing a teacher’s car and was kicked of the wrestling team. Throwing his life away he ran away from his mom which was a druggy and went to see his grand pop in another state. In the movie he look to be an outstanding wrestler now most of the moves any high school experienced wrestler would know. The next great character had to be Paul Giamatti he was the person who eventually takes care of the reject wrestler and brings the sport back in to his life. Paul was a strong person in the movie he played a humorous role and made the movie like wow I gotta keep watching this. In the movie the main top best wrestler was Alex Shaffer if he was put into a move he new every possible way of getting out. The only move that I really recognized was the stand up and the double leg take down. If you were not a wrestler you wouldn’t understand most of what’s happening in the movie, but there is humor in it for adults. I wonder if the kid Alex was actually a wrestler all his life because he played a good awesome role when he had a match. The moves he did improved the team. When you first see the team they have no idea of what they’re doing. When Alex comes to the first practice he shows everyone he’s the best there. A great quote from the movie was by is by Terry Delfino he says “This kids got man strength”. When I first heard him say this I laughed, because the kids really not big he’s more tall and skinny. Terry says this because the kid is so experienced that he looks as if he has mans strength but really he’s just a good wrestler. Another Quote from the movie is by Jackie Fluherty she says “Kyle, we love you” When she says that to Alex he really forgives them and when she said it it made the story line much better and was shocking to hear. In the end I think this movie would any pull sports related audience. The movie pull an audience of maybe humors adults or parents that have teens in high school that wrestle. If you didn’t see this movie I would defiantly go and see it. BY john whartenby -this review was really good john. the review really showed how funny the movie really was- love tyler.
BIG DADDY
Imagine that you are a person who does not have a job and sharing an apartment with a friend. How do you feel when a five year old boy and come to you and tell you that he is your friend’s son and fatefully your friend is at a conference in China? This is the life of Sonny Koufax (Adam Sandler) in this movie. The film was released on June 25, 1999 by Columbia Pictures. This film was directed by Dennis Dugan who had previously directed hit movies like Grown-ups, Just go with it, and Jack and Jill. This movie’s screenplay was done by Steve Franks, Tim Herlihy, and Adam Sandler. Adam Sandler also leads the cast with Joey Lauren Adams and Jon Stewart. This movie “Big Daddy” has mind blowing actors’ performance, the powerful script and screenplay which flow throughout the movie, and some seriousness that jump out from its mask at last.
Firstly, the mind-blowing performance of actors especially Adam Sandler’s acting catches the eyes of everyone of the audience. Adam Sandler’s talent to change his voice over-time like mumbling, whining, anger, and screaming keeps the audience entertaining throughout the movie. Not only his voice, but also his body language and physical comedies are having a huge impact on the movie. When Adam Sandler beams the kid with the baseball, and the scene when the kid trips roller bladders by tossing a stick in the path are couple of scenes which keep the audience laughing. This movie is made for all kind of audience. Whoever watches this movie will be entertained throughout the 93 minutes of the movie. The jokes in this movie are crude and non-stop. Secondly, the powerful script and screenplay which flows throughout the movie are major reason for this movie’s success. The wonderful job of screenplay was done by Steve Franks, Tim Herlihy, and Adam Sandler. The scriptwriter also has done a super job in the script. Every word of the script flows you through the story and your laughing will be non-stop. When Adam Sandler finds out his girlfriend is with an old guy, she says that the old man has a five year plan. He replies “What’s that? Don’t die.” I appreciate the Adam Sandler’s timing and also the writer’s thought of writing this tremendous script. The creative use of camera and the selection of setting where done perfectly in the film. The scene when Adam Sandler and the kid peeing on side wall of a hotel shows that they don’t care where they are peeing. The setting of that scene indicates the two are careless and easy going. Last but not least, the seriousness which jumps out from its mask at last is the one and only minus point to this movie. Everything in this world has a good side and a bad side. For example, every person has a good side and bad side; some people chose to show their good and some others show their bad side. Similarly, this movie has a bad mask in it at last. People can argue that seriousness is a good part in the movies; I can surely say that seriousness in this movie is not giving this movie a perfection. I prefer more funny scenes. The scene in the court where his father understands Adam Sandler’s responsibilities are too emotional to this story. If they made this movie as a full comedy film, then it would’ve been perfect. In conclusion, the film “Big Daddy” has mind-blowing actors’ performance, the powerful script which flows throughout the movie, and some seriousness that jump out from its mask at last. This movie has the ability to entertain everybody who watches it. This movie last about 93 minutes; everybody who watch this movie can laugh throughout this one and half hour. This movie is for all kind of audience except little kids because some of the jokes are for adults. I prefer this movie to anyone especially people who depressed and need a way to clear everything from their mind should watch this movie. This is full entertainment movie except some emotional scenes in the climax court scene. I will grade this movie as A- because everything except the insipid seriousness is first-class in this movie.
By, Deepak Rajan I've never seen this movie before but you made a good, detailed review that makes me want to see it.- Abel Harbison
hangover part 2 What would you do if you just woke up one morning in Bangkok and you don’t even remember the night before that? Well that’s what happened to the stars of the movie “The Hangover Part II”. This movie debuted in theatres in May of 2011. This 102 minute comedy was definitely a good one. I found the movie hilarious in so many different ways. “The Hangover Part II” was just hilarious due to the display of great acting and funny hardworking characters.Zach Galifianakis (Alan) was just crack up funny. The mains star, Bradley Cooper (Phil), was the type of guy that was serious as well as a fun loving guy. The director of this movie, Todd Phillips, also put good actors in a good role. The movie also starred Ed Helms (Stu), and Justin Bartha (Doug). The movie takes place in Bangkok. Everyone goes there for Stu’s wedding. Only problem is Stu was guilted into inviting Alan along because of what he caused 2 years prior to the wedding. Something I like about whole movie was when the guys couldn’t find who they were looking for but did find Crystal, the drug dealing monkey. The monkey somehow worked like a real person so there had to be some really good workers on and off screen. My favorite part of the entire movie was how Alan was so mean to Teddy, Stu’s fiancé little brother. Alan felt like he was being replaced by and hated Teddy in a funny way. The only thing I did not like in this movie was the fact that it was pretty much the exact same thing as the first one. They go to a bacholer party and wake up the next morning not knowing what happened the night before and one of their friends are missing and they go on an adventure looking for them. If it was different it would have been better. My grade for this movie would be a 8/10. I would only give it a 8 because it was the same thing as the first. Without that it would be at least a 9. Its now one of my favorite movies and I would watch it over and over if I could. steven this was a great film reveiw. talked to much about the comedy. talk a little less about it though. but over all it was great and i want to see the movie. but the comedy was the highlight of the whole movie.by: brandon marcano
The Crucible

The lovely Bones
Its better living life the fullest because you might never know when something terrible and terrifying might happen to you.

Home Alone
What would you do if you were left home alone as the rest of your family was in France?

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE:GHOST PROTOCOL REVIEW
In 1996 Brian De Palma directed the first one.
It will be a little harder this time. Because of a bomb that went off in the Kremlin, a very important political building in Russia, was blamed on America.
The others have done a great job making the other mission impossible movies, but they are nothing
compared to this one. Brad Bird did a great job doing this movie, and I sure am looking forward to another installment in this series, as are others who love these movies.

Dominick, you did good on your word choice.

Great job on the review. You show a lot of passion in stating and supporting your feelings towards this film. The only thing that could use some work is the length. other than that it is perfect. I may consider watching this movie from start to finish.

This movie made over $10,179,275 dollars.

The jokes in this movie are crude and non-stop.Secondly, the powerful script and screenplay which flows throughout the movie are major reason for this movie’s success.
By, Deepak Rajan I've never seen this movie before but you made a good, detailed review that makes me want to see it.- Abel Harbisonhangover part 2
What would you do if you just woke up one morning in Bangkok and you don’t even remember the night before that?
